I created this ad so YOU can get an idea of what it would cost to have me do to YOUR engine what I did to Mark's. This engine came to us in boxes. It ran ok as a 1600. Mark wanted me to build the AE #'d engine to a 1915 super torquer. Here's what I did:
- I stripped the long block (it was already torn down to that) down to a bare naked block. The crank bore looked perfect but turned out to need boring.
- I sent the block out to have case savers installed, the cyl openings cut to accept 94's, the block tapped for full flow and the block cleaned. It was align bored to 20 over & the thrust was cut also.
- The oil pump will push oil through a filter kit to an 8 pass Empi oil cooler off the engine. On the engine is a std doghouse oil cooler also.
- I purchased a new Empi 69mm counterweighted chromoly forged 8 dowel crank, new Empi rods, new Scat crank pulley, new AA piston set and new Empi Stage 1 p-plate. I shipped those out to be balanced along with the new chromoly Empi 8 dowel flywheel, so the rotating mass would be bal'd.
- I painted the block gloss black with high heat ceramic embedded paint.
- New bearings & gaskets throughout of course.
- I installed a new Engle VZ-15 cam & Empi drilled lobe 30mm head lifters. I used a set of cast straight cut gears by Performance Products & modified it to accept 4 degree advance washers. I re-used Marks distributor drive gear & hardware.
- I installed a Fragola aluminum plug into the block 'in' side of a new Empi cast iron oil pump with a steel full flow outlet face. A new oil drain plate with a magnetic drain plug closes up the bottom.
- I installed a new set of AA Hypereutectic 94mm pistons (with Total Seal gapless 2nd rings) & cylinders. I won't build engines without using the Total Seal Gapless 2nd rings.
- New Performance Products heads with long reach 14mm plug bores, dual high rev springs, 40 x 35.5 valves & chromoly retainers will finish up the package with 8.66:1 CR.
- I installed new stainless steel windage style push rod tubes. I cleaned and painted the air deflectors.
- I cleaned his rockers, installed Empi's swivel feet and installed them on a set of Scat chromoly bolt together shafts. I installed Empi chromoly stock length 3/8" push rods.
- A new sand sealed Scat pulley kit goes on with a long Empi crank bolt kit.
- New Empi bolt on valve covers will be attached to an Empi breather box kit.
- New Empi 44 HPMX single carb kit. I modified new Empi end castings to flow more fuel with a giant 'sharing' cut 2 7/8" up into the casting.
- I put new oil in the engine. Bring your own oil if you want to save a little money. A new chrome Performance Products 009 distributor, Mark's re-used 8mm plug wires & Compu-Fire 35,000 volt coil. I put a new red cap on the dizzy.
- Mark's cyl tins & fan shroud were re-used. His generator had to go so I put on a new Chinese 60 amp alternator & top chrome pulley from Performance Products.
- I installed the new engine on my test bench, fired it up with my exhaust on then set the timing.
- I dialed in the carb mixture screws to run the new 1915 properly.
- I ran my normal rpm tests.
- The Stage 1 p-plate & the rigid stock style clutch disc will provide plenty of bite.
- A new Empi ceramic coated exhaust system included in this price (held on with new wavy washers & brass nuts) lets the gases out after break in.
- At this point the engine project is done. This job as I outlined it, with all of the parts I mentioned here & the shipping involved, cost $4929.00
Comes with the remote filter mount and remote cooler shown in the pic on the right. |
